EV Public Charge Sessions 1.0.6

Description

The EV Public Charge Sessions API provides controls to start, stop, and monitor electric vehicle charging sessions at all public Shell Recharge locations.

Why use the EV Public Charge Sessions API

Enhance visibility and control

Centralising the charging process allows drivers and fleet managers to easily view charging session data and analytics.

Make charging management easy

Give users the power to start and stop charging seamlessly at public Shell Recharge locations using a single app.

Improve the driver experience

Integrating charging controls directly into your platform, you reduce the number of apps, log-ins, and devices your drivers need to get from A to B.

Key features

The Shell EV Public Charge Sessions API provides the following functionality:

  • Start a charging session: Initiate a new charging session for a user by passing their EV charge number (e.g., Ema-ID) and the specific Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment ID (EVSE ID) of the charger they are plugged into.
  • Stop a charging session: Send a request to halt an active charging session by providing the unique session ID.
  • Retrieve session details: Fetch the detailed status of a specific charging session using its session ID. This returns critical data such as the start time, stop time, EVSE ID, and the current session state (e.g., Started).
  • Retrieve active sessions: Fetch a list of all currently active charging sessions associated with a specific user by querying their Emobility Account Identifier (Ema-ID).

How you can use the EV Public Charge Sessions API

By integrating this API, your application can communicate with the Shell Recharge network to manage live charging sessions.

  1. Once a driver is at a station and plugged in, your app can trigger a start command using the specific charger's EVSE ID.
  2. While the vehicle is charging, your application can fetch the active session's live status, duration, and details.
  3. When the driver is ready to leave, your app can issue a stop command to safely terminate the session.
