Managing PIN reminders

Chip & PIN technology allows sending PIN reminders electronically, either to the user's email address or as an SMS.

Imagine a situation where a cardholder is at a fuel station and forgets their PIN number. Even worse, the driver has already fueled up but cannot pay with their Shell card because the PIN is missing.

With a paper PIN reminder, the cardholder won't be able to pay for the fuel immediately, as the delivery takes time. While a B2C user might have cash or another card to use, a company driver relying on a fuel card might not have enough cash or any other means to pay. Additionally, truck drivers might be hesitant to use other cards due to the lengthy reimbursement process.

In contrast, sending PIN reminders via email or SMS ensures that the driver can quickly retrieve their PIN and complete the payment without delay and stress.
